7 steps of Justice

The major failings in our understanding for class presentations today were quite hilarious.  I can imagine what professor Nibley was muttering under his breathe as we all made asses of ourselves. Mostly me of course, but it goes to show how vital CLEAR COMMUNICATION IS.

For those who don't have the text yet, the 7 glorious steps are:

1.Define the communications problem (what need?)
2.Define the target audience (who?)
3.Define the Objective (why?)
4.Define the strategy (how?)
5.Define the content (what?)
6.Define the medium(which medium?)
7.Creative concept

But what we learned today was not about pitching the commercial per se' but rather introducing our product "Steve Jobs" style.  These seven 7 steps however tedious, might suffice.

Screenplays for Thy Soul

If you're looking for official scripts from all types of movies, both good and bad. Check out this website.

Because I know you've been wanting to get your hands on the screenplay of "17 Again."  Yes, I know you more than you know you.

- As a side note, I'd recommend reading the screenplay to 2001: A space Odyssey.  It's good for your health.

In class there have been many questions about what types of marks to use when copy editing. Here is a list of some of them. If we all learn this universal editing style then we could communicate easier when criticizing and slicing each others throats... just saying.

The full list is here.

You wrote what?

As professor Nibley's paper, "Take a Memo on the Review of that Screenplay", so bluntly suggested, "the movie industry is crying out for intelligent people who can communicate through writing", we too must enable ourselves into that category.

This blog will let the DGM 4000 class and others willing to share links and ideas that will help us expand our knowledge in the art of writing. If nothing else, it will at least provide a home for frivolous writing and reading.

Feel free to contribute, critique and most importantly check our spelling.

Amen.
